How to make Jalebis?
INGREDIENTS: serves 6-7 persons
- 1 cup maida ( all purpose flour)
- 1/2 cup curd
- a pinch of baking soda(optional)
- orange/yellow food colour(optional)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp elaichi powder(cardamom)
- 1 tsp saunf powder(fennel)
- A ketchup bottle with a small opening/ a milk packet (you can cut its end to make an opening)
- 3-4 tbsp ghee
METHOD:
1. Take maida and curd in a bowl and mix add some water to it to form a batter of medium consistency. Add in a pinch of baking soda and food colour in the batter.
2. Keep the batter aside and make the sugar syrup for dipping those scrumptious jalebis!
3. For the sugar syrup, take a pan and put 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in it. Stir it for a while and then let the sugar dissolve. Add in the cardamom and fennel seed powder into the sugar syrup once it's ready.
4. For the jalebis, take another pan and put about 3-4 tbsp of ghee into it. Now take the batter in a ketchup bottle or a milk packet and cut a hole in it, and make whatever shape you wish to make. Enjoy this process!
5. Once they get cooked from both the sides put them directly into the sugar syrup(chashni) and then serve them on a plate. You can also garnish them with some cardamom powder, but I like them as they are.
please serve them hot!
HAPPY COOKING!
